Welcome to Gordon, NebraskaGordon is located in the eastern part of Sheridan County, 14 miles from South Dakota and 106 miles from Wyoming. The village of Gordon was incorporated in 1885, the same year that the Cowboy Rail Line was extended through the area. In 1920, Gordon became a city with a population of 1,200. In 1950, the electorate approved the City Manager and Council form of government. Today Gordon has an estimated population of 1,665. The City of Gordon’s annual firework display will be held Wednesday, July 2nd! The event will begin after the sun sets.
JUST A REMINDER:
DO NOT DETONATE FIRWORKS AT THE AIRPORT.
DO NOT DETONATE FIREWORKS AT THE ROADS SURROUNDING THE FAIRGROUNDS.
DO NOT BLOCK STREETS, ANYONE'S DRIVEWAY(WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION) AND DO NOT ALLOW CHILDREN TO LIGHT FIRWORKS WITHOUT ADULT SUPERVISION.
DO NOT THROW OR AIM FIRWORKS AT TREES, BUSHES, PEOPLE OR PETS.
Also, you MUST cleanup any detonated fireworks from the streets. This does not mean sweeping them to the curb, it means picking them up and disposing of them properly in a trash receptacle. Let's make an effort to keep the city clean, thank you!
SECTION 8-603 (FIREWORKS) Sale
B. Consumer fireworks may be sold at retail only between June 25 at 12:01 a.m. and July 4 at 11:59 p.m. and between December 29 at 12:01 a.m. and December 31 at 11:59 p.m.
C. Consumer fireworks may be discharged only between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. June 25 through July 3; between 8:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. July 4; and between 4:30 p.m. December 31 and 12:30 a.m. January 1.
